sYNOPSIS

Painful memories from long ago resurface when Emily Wells travels to Colorado to clean out her family’s vacation cabin for its new owner. Strongest among them? Her recollections of Logan Chase, Emily’s first love, to whom she gave her heart one magical summer, only to have it broken when she never heard from him again. Logan had never forgotten that summer romance and can’t believe it when he finds Emily packing up the little cabin that he has recently purchased for renovation. Despite the passage of years and their stormy history, Emily and Logan can’t deny the fierce attraction that still sizzles between them…Will one snowy night together be enough to melt her frozen heart and give them both a second chance at love?

MY REVIEW

6 STARS

“Em, I have loved you since the day I laid eyes on you waking down that dock. Thoughts of you have filled my head, my dreams, my fantasies since I was sixteen years old. I don’t know what crazy twist of fate finally brought us back together, but I don’t want to waste another minute of my life being without you.”

Stories like this are the reason I love to read. This is one of the best short stories I have ever read. The writing flowed so beautifully and the characters were real and enticing. I just loved the second-chance love story and how I was drawn in to the story so quickly.
I very much enjoyed that Logan was not a man whore but a genuine good guy. Emily was sweet and real and trying to just endure some very crappy circumstances.
I need more. I want another story with these characters and this author. I am completely in awe. I just adored this story.
Thank you Jennie for writing this. I look forward to reading more from you.

He laughed and dumped her into the snow. “Oh, that’s how you want to play?”

She held up her hands in surrender. “No, Logan. I was just teasing.” She crawled closer then suddenly turned to look into the trees. “What is that?”

As if responding to the alarm in her voice, Logan’s head snapped toward the trees. Giving her just the vantage point she needed to dump a handful of snow down the back of his shirt.

“Hey!” He grabbed her around the middle in a playful tackle and rolled on top of her.

She shrieked in laughter, throwing snow and bucking against him.

He pinned her, breathing hard, and grinned down at her. Snowflakes stuck to his ridiculously long, dark eyelashes, and her breath caught as she looked up into his eyes.

He’d only grown more gorgeous with age. Looking at him caused her chest to actually hurt. She’d missed him so damn much.

The laughter in his eyes changed to something different. Something darker as he looked down at her lips. She sucked in her bottom lip and watched his blue eyes deepen further still.

He leaned down, his mouth achingly close to hers. She could feel the warmth of his breath against her cheek and the delicious weight of his body as he lowered himself onto hers.

What was she doing? She hadn’t seen Logan in years. He might be a totally different person than she remembered him to be. He could have turned into a total a-hole. Or worse, he could still be the same sweet Logan that had held her hand and taught her how to shoot pool.

Would his lips feel familiar? Would he taste the same? Her heart pounded against her chest, and she knew her hands were trembling.

Only one way to find out.

She reached up and laid her hand against his cheek. He closed his eyes and turned his face toward her hand, softly laying a kiss against her palm.

Oh my.

She sucked in her breath, her lips aching in anticipation. He opened his eyes and looked into hers. Looked into her very soul.

Then he leaned down and took her mouth in his. He didn’t just kiss her, he possessed her lips with a passion that sizzled all the way to her toes. His kisses were hungry, greedy, as if he were starving, and she was his last meal.

His right hand tangled in her hair while his left held her face, cupping her cheek in a tender grasp.

Her body burned, and she arched against him, pressing closer as she wrapped her arms around his back and held on. His back was strong. She could feel his muscles tense even through his coat.

They were putting out so much heat that she was surprised the snow hadn’t melted in a circle around them.

Suddenly he pulled back, his breath now coming in hard gasps. “Wait. I’m so sorry. We can’t do this.” He pushed up and leaned back on the snow.

“Oh. Yeah.” Her body was cold without his warmth. She shivered and wrapped her arms around her chest. “No, of course not.”

Wait, why can’t we?

Joss Parker’s life is a fairy tale come true. She’s a concert pianist in New York who lives with her longtime boyfriend and is close with her fiercely protective father—until one fateful night when she is taken in the middle of the night.

In a desperate attempt to access a program that could be a threat to national security, her ability to play the piano is threatened. Her world comes crashing down when her father puts his need to protect a program over his own daughter.

At the last minute, Joss finds herself whisked away by an unlikely ally.

She later lands in the protective custody of none other than small-town bad boy and bar owner Derek Slade. Slade is entrusted to look after Joss and see to it that she hides behind her new persona, Jill, so that bad people don’t find her ever again.

Joss has been erased. Joss is now Jill.

As Joss trades her blond locks for Jill’s mahogany ones, she also takes on the strength of her new persona. Jill is someone who doesn’t put up with crap. Jill doesn’t trust easily. Jill must protect the broken heart of Joss.

Joss and Slade battle an intense attraction, but she isn’t the only one with secrets. Behind Slade’s silver eyes are mysteries he’s unwilling to share. Slade knows better than to get involved with Joss, yet he finds it nearly impossible to push her away.

What happens when Slade crosses the line of protector? Can he protect her when the evils of both of their pasts come back to haunt them?

Behind the Blindfold (Volume 1)

MY REVIEW
4.5 “Don’t judge a book by its cover” STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I am in awe.
I am confused.
I am wanting more.
I am needing answers.
I am I love with the writing.

“You are so damn beautiful… and sexy… and talented and… I’m so glad to call you mine, Saturday. All mine.”

Wow this book threw me for a loop. In a good way though, a really good way. I admit I am confused and intrigued all at the same time (this is a commendable thing and the sign of a great book). I have so many questions and that cliffhanger has me on the edge of my seat in anticipation.

This is not your typical romance. It’s more of a mystery romance or dark romance. (Which I happen to love and don’t read enough of.) These kind of books have to be well thought out, executed properly and superbly written – all of which happened in this book.

Saturday (Yes, that is her name. I was hoping it had some significance or an explanation behind it but I didn’t find anything. It was actually a bit confusing and I don’t recommend using a day of the week for a name. Or maybe changing the POV to first person.) was a hard nut to crack at times. On one hand she was strong, talented, smart, beautiful, good and self-sufficient yet other times she could be awkward, unsure of what she wanted, hesitant and completely infatuated with a beautiful yet puzzling man. So completely infatuated in fact that she was “blinded” to things she should have wanted and demanded answers to.

“…but she had to ask herself: did she ever really have him? He still was keeping secrets. Hiding things.”

Now don’t get me wrong, I totally related to Saturday. Her flaws and indecisiveness made her so much more real and I liked her for that. No one can always be one attribute and not its counterpart, especially when love is involved. Saturday was just exactly the right amount of everything and to me that just made the story.

The Hero Mark is obviously hiding something. He’s like 2 different people and being privy to some of his diary entries just intrigues and confuses me all the more. I don’t doubt his infatuation, possibly love, and good intentions for Saturday but what is motivating him and who he really is is the BIG question. I hope to find out in Volume 2.

“My love. My passion for her. My Saturday.”

“She is turning into such a disappointment…”

Book: Tall, Tatted, and Tempting (The Reed Brothers Book 1)

sYNOPSIS

Kit

Logan wants to know my name, but I can’t tell him. I can’t tell him anything. There are too many people looking for me. He’s pretty persuasive, though, and he convinces me to go home with him so he can keep me safe from this harsh city where I find myself. It’s not my home. It’s his. He belongs. I don’t.

Logan lives with four brothers in the inner city. Yet I’ve never felt more safe than I do when I’m with him. I want him. But he won’t let me have a darn thing, aside from his friendship, unless I’m willing to tell him my secrets. But they’re mine, and I can’t share them. Not unless I want them to come and get me.

Logan

She catches my eye because she’s so beautiful she takes my breath. But that’s not all that I love about her. I love the way she smells. The way she smiles. The way she plays the guitar is unlike anything I have ever seen. She sleeps in my bed every night, and drives me crazy with her touch. But I can’t take what she offers because I need all of her. I need for her to tell me her secrets. I need for her to trust me.

From the back of the book:

She’s locked up tight. But he might be the key.

Logan Reed is tall, tatted and tempting.
Kit’s a woman with a mean right hook and a secret.

Kit wants a tattoo, but Logan sees more than she intends to share in the drawing of the tat she wants. He sees her in ways no one ever has.

Logan’s not disabled; but he hasn’t spoken in eight years. He hasn’t needed to.
Until he meets Kit.

Logan doesn’t know everything about Kit. Kit doesn’t know anything about herself,
until she has to sacrifice all she ever wanted to save what’s most important to him.

MY REVIEW

5 Beautiful Stars

I absolutely love this book.. What more can you ask for. A book you cant put down.. A drop dead sexy love story, a hot and sexy tattooed man, a family that sticks together through everything, and one girls unselfish choice to save a life.

This book was incredible, I loved the story, loved the writing. I laughed, I cried, and fell in love with Logan. He is probably the most beautiful BB both inside and out. He is Tall, Tatted and PERFECT!! This book was awesome… Just to let you know you might as well one-click book #2 as well, because it is that good!!

I love the Reed Brothers so much!!! Great book you guys. This is a MUST READ!

By Kristin

5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was AWEsome. An incredibly heartfelt story of love and acceptance. It was sweet, refreshing, sexy and very touching.

I think the thing I loved most was the emotional depth of this book. How it truly touched me. It had the perfect mix of heart, passion and humor.

By the first chapter I was hooked! Curious to understand and know, I kept reading well into the night. It was a fast-paced read and was over too quickly. I fell in love with Logan and Kit/Emily (she goes by Kit but we find out her real name is Emily). Their chemistry was hot and the dynamic between the two really made this book. The writing was exceptional. Tammy Falkner is a true artist.

Logan was a real man! The title ‘Tall, Tatted and Tempting’ sums him up perfectly, but he was also a genuine good guy. He is every girls dream.

Emily was struggling and had her problems but she too was a good person. You don’t find out what is going on with her and her background until the end of the book but throughout you know that she has a good heart.

Overall, I couldn’t get enough of this book and had to start the second one immediately. I love books like this

Excerpt

Before I could react, he had pried my legs apart and was working along my inner right thigh, moving slowly upward. By now, my reservations were gone and I surrendered to him. And when his fingers reached the junction between my legs, I gasped when his hands slipped under my butt and gripped my cheeks, squeezing them in his hands. He could see every intimate part of me, I was sure of it. Letting go of my butt, his hands came around to my folds. At that moment, when his finger slipped between my legs, I clapped my hand over my mouth, suppressing my scream.

His fingers moved along my folds, tracking my wetness up and down. I was so wet at this point that my insides heaved with desire as he stroked me. I wanted to cry out, ask him what he was doing, but I didn’t. I let him manipulate my folds, slowly, methodically bringing me to orgasm. My hips began rocking in time with his hands. God, those hands were making me feel things I never thought possible. I could feel my climax building, like a wave caught in the shallows it was gaining momentum, waiting to wash over me.

I was at his mercy now. I ached for release and was willing to do anything to achieve it. But when his finger inched back and forth over my vagina, teasing me with the promise of what was to come. I bit my lip, desperate for him to penetrate me. His fingers did not wait long to slip inside of me, and when I felt the pressure of him moving deeper, I arched my back and moaned. He was rubbing back and forth over that spot, the one so many men try to find but give up. Well, Mr. Hands knew exactly where my spot was, and as he slowly moved in and out of me, I knew I was going to come harder than I had ever come before.

Book: Hope Over Fear

by J.A. DeRouen

MY REVIEW

5 Beautiful Stars

This book was AMAZING. I enjoyed every single page of this book. J.A Derouen writing was flawless and this story flowed effortlessly. I love this type of New Adult books, but she did her’s with a little spin.

First, I loved how the characters were a little older, they were career established, and you got the feeling each one wanted to make a difference in other’s lives. Very refreshing.

Second, I love the incorporation of music with this book, it gave such a personal and greater dept to what you were reading. You felt the emotion perfectly transcend into the story.

I just adored Sara, she was refreshing as well. She was care-free, selfless, loving, loyal, and her one major flaw was not knowing how amazing she was. I loved her interactions with Alex and Marlo…Those girls were a hoot. I love that Sara did not back down, she was intelligent, and Strong. I wanted to be her. When She meets Adam, she was so patient with him. I loved watching a female character not go CRAZY CRAZY for once.

Sometimes, I must admit that Adam drove me crazy,I was feeling so frustrated right along with Sara…Seriously she was the best girl..You will just have to read the book to get what I’m saying. But what I loved about what JA Derouen did was when I thought my level of frustration with Adam was maxed. I would start the next chapter In Adam POV, and completely understand.. Bravo for perfect timing.

I loved watching (reading) Sara and Adams relationship grow, I loved watching it heal, and of course it was the perfect mixture of HOT and sexy, just how I like it!!!

If I had time I would completely re read this book, I loved it so much. Definitely going on my 5 Star list!

Book: Eyes Turned Skyward

by Rebecca Yarros

MY REVIEW

4.5 “BE FIERCE” STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Eyes Turned Skyward was an emotionally gripping tale of forbidden love that had me hook, line and sinker from the beginning.

”For once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you will long to return…”

Oh, me… oh, my… I have so SO many thoughts and emotions about this book. I feel like I watched Titanic (the movie with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet) and experienced the full gamut of emotions possible. I am amazed stunned blown away by the writing and emotional pull Rebecca Yarros can create. I was absorbed into the story immediately and the characters and story line did not disappoint.

Paisley was the epitome of a demure and proper southern bell, yet she exuded confidence and a heart of pure gold. Trying to maintain the balance between pleasing her parents and loved ones and doing what she needs to do for herself had me connecting with her as a character but rooting for her to endure and then soar. She is faced with many obstacles and a desire not to live a half life. The more I learned about her, the more I understood her just had me anxious to know how her story turned out.

Jagger was exactly what Paisley needs and he soon discovers that she is exactly what he has been missing. With his panty-dropping hotness, life-saving skills and cocky but endearing attitude I couldn’t help but fall for him.

Paisley and Jagger’s relationship is a slow build, starting as friends and letting that burn for each other grow as their trust with each other becomes the foundation of their love. They have many things to learn about one another and keep those skeletons hidden for quite a while (past 80% of the book, very frustrating and fascinating all at the same time) but they always try to be honest and trusting of one another.

The secondary characters were of huge importance to this book, so vital to the story. They each had their own pull on Paisley’s life and they all had their own affect on her need to soar.
(I really would love a book/novella about Grayson.)

Overall the second novel by Rebecca Yarros did not disappoint and I cannot wait for her third book.

Side note: “Good night” not “Goodnight”.
I know it’s stupid but I prefer it to be spelled as two words and Rebecca does and that brings me so much joy. (less)

Sound is an abstract concept for most people. We spend our lives blocking out the static in order to focus on what we believe is important. But what if, when the clarity fades into silence, it’s the obscure background noise that you would give anything to hold on to?

I’ve always been a fighter. With parents who barely managed to stay out of jail and two little brothers who narrowly avoided foster care, I became skilled at dodging the punches life threw at me. Growing up, I didn’t have anything I could call my own, but from the moment I met Eliza Reynolds, she was always mine.  I became utterly addicted to her and the escape from reality we provided each other. Throughout the years, she had boyfriends and I had girlfriends, but there wasn’t a single night that I didn’t hear her voice.

You see, meeting the love of my life at age thirteen was never part of my plan. However, neither was gradually going deaf at the age of twenty-one.

They both happened anyway.

Now, I’m on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.

Fighting for my career.

Fighting the impending silence.

Fighting for her.

Every night, just before falling asleep, she sighs as a final conscious breath leaves her.

I think that’s the sound I’ll miss the most.

FIGHTING SILENCE Cover Reveal Excerpt

“That wasn’t yours to take away,” he exploded into the otherwise silent night. His words echoed off the surrounding buildings, each wave slicing me to the quick all over again. “That was our place. Not yours.” His voice cracked right alongside my heart.

“Yeah, well, there was a lot of stuff that wasn’t yours to take either.” I held his gaze, desperately trying to be strong, but as his eyes grew wide, I whimpered.

His long legs strode forward, stopping only inches away from me. He was crowding me, but he still leaned in closer to my face. “There is nothing in this world that was ever more mine than you,” he stated. Though it was the absolute truth, I wished with all my heart that it were a lie.

“Till,” I cried, swiping the tears from my eyes.

“Why!” he shouted, causing his muscles to tense under the force. “Goddamn it! I needed that place.”

Porch lights flashed on from the surrounding apartments, illuminating not only the dark but also my rage.

I shoved my hands into his chest. “What about what I needed? You left! I waited in that fucking apartment for weeks.”

He didn’t budge, but my bare feet slipped, sending me toward the ground. Impossibly fast, Till’s hand snaked out and caught my arm. I didn’t let his chivalrous gesture douse my fire. I had six months’ worth of words to say to the man I was irrevocably in love with.

“You took what you wanted. Then you left me.”

“Doodle,” he whispered.

I had been perilously close to the edge of insanity, and with one single word, he’d pushed me over.

I lost it completely.

Pounding my fists against his chest, I screamed at the top of my lungs, “It’s Eliza! My name is fucking Eliza! Not Doodle!” I spun to march away, but Till’s arms folded around me, lifting me off my feet to restrain me.

I was miniscule compared to him. There was no use in fighting, but I still kicked my legs, irrationally desperate to get away from him—but only because I knew I couldn’t keep him for forever.

“Stop it!” he growled into my ear. “I know your Goddamn name—probably better than I know my own.”
